500 Meters Weimar
A guided journey in time
If you live in Weimar you soon know almost every corner of it. Visitors can also explore the historical landmarks and main squares in no time. But what do they perceive? Do the streets, houses and dead poets make up Weimar – or the people who live here? The artist Anke Heelemann, who works with forgotten private Weimar photographs, invites you to a city tour called «500 Meters Weimar». The unknown and the insignificant are the starting point for a subjective exploration of the city: the walk covers the 500 meters from the Festival Centre on Theaterplatz to Goetheplatz to the former Gauforum. With the help of analogue tools – slide viewers, pictures and maps, chalk and a record player – and instructed by performer Markus Fennert, participants follow a trail of historical events, political visions and personal experiences. The various perspectives provide scope for associations. Go discover!
