Powerfully eloquent performance on the dying of the oceans
The oceans are sick. The ongoing emission of greenhouse gases not only influences global warming, it also acidifies the oceans, with devastating consequences for our planet’s largest continuous ecosystem: the seas spanning our globe. However, this will also have a foreseeable dramatic effect on the nature and climate of the mainland. The prominent Canadian science journalist Alanna Mitchell has researched facts and gathered data on the oceans’ threat levels – over many years and throughout the world. Gripped by this subject, she not only wrote a book about it, she’s developed a performance to boot. The format combines scientific insights with journalistic analysis and a committed performance to achieve maximum impact. Linguistically astute and at the same time comprehensible and fun while always reflecting her own role as a journalist, Alanna Mitchell manages to make even the more complex issues accessible to her audience. The production has now toured worldwide, however this performance in Weimar is a German premiere!
