In the follow-up project to the KUNSTFEST 2020 success Schwimmen nach … THÜRINGEN (Swimming to ... THURINGIA) that was performed in venues all across the state, the Luxembourgian actor Steve Karier is devoting his latest interactive theatre show to old legends and myths, new fake news and rumours from and about Thuringia. Karier will once again call on locals to contribute their tall tales about their hometown: 20 evenings, 20 locations — each evening is specifically tailored to the host venue.
The project is being developed in parallel with the exhibition series of the same name with the ACC GALERIE WEIMAR, where local artists have each designed a space based on legends or rumours submitted by the public, thus creating a series of walk-in ‘rooms of lies’ all across Thuringia. Karier goes a step further in his performance, as he takes up the narrative baton and creates an imaginative stage setting for his Thuringian fables and inventive myths. Ultimately, no story is more believable than a well-told one. Every evening, Steve Karier will present the ‘whole truth’ about the place where he is performing that night. The show in Weimar, for example, will be entitled WEIMAR — Die ganze Wahrheit (WEIMAR — The whole Truth).
Subject to the pandemic situation at each of the host locations, Q&A sessions and workshops will also be held, so the locals can discuss how our society deals with rumours, false reporting and myths.
Note: further information on the Q&A sessions, workshops and theatre evenings will be posted on the KUNSTFEST WEIMAR website.
