Democracy doesn´t fall from the sky - but how do we encourage people?
Enkhbat Roozon is an entrepreneur, publisher and political journalist who is committed to modernising the Mongolian education system, as well as strengthening civil society and the public sphere to critically confront the ruling political parties. He is primarily interested in promoting greater autonomy and civic responsibility for every citizen. In his view, these are prerequisite for reforming and modernising the Mongolian education system, and therefore, educational policy is the focus of his journalistic activities.
Against the backdrop of the «revival of the political experience»as best exemplified by the current «Fridays for Future» demonstrations around Greta Thunberg, Enkhbat Roozon will discuss how to encourage self-responsibility and civilised debate with Marina Weisband, an educational expert and the project director of «aula – Schule gemeinsam gestalten». How can we promote democratic thinking and democratic competence? How do we strengthen participation in decision-making? The discussion will also consider recent developments in post-Soviet countries.
