Don Pablo Mulemba: Hundeheimat – Der Osten, meine Familie und andere Wunder
Debut novel by journalist and podcaster Don Pablo Mulemba
As a child, Don Pablo Mulemba – son of an Angolan contract worker and an East German woman – was constantly asked to explain the color of his skin. Although he naturally identified as German, he was often treated as an outsider. In the 1990s, he experienced racist violence, including the murder of friends. In the post-reunification, East Germany era was no longer a safe place for his family. They emigrated to Angola –Pablo wanted to stay. His debut novel tells of identity, home, and belonging, of personal experiences and the history of reunified Germany, its fractures, wounds, and the courage to forge a future nonetheless – gripping, intimate and authentic. Mulemba will present his brand-new novel at LiteraturEtage.
