I'm Going Out, I'm Going In

Interactive Installation by Laura McLardy

What can give us new forms of security in times of crisis – when we are most in need of humanity and human connection? And how can we strengthen it?

Laura McLardy’s installation I’m Going Out, I’m Going In invites visitors to a moment of conscious human coming together, in which two people gaze into each other’s eyes for three minutes, seeing the other and themselves at the same time. Through headphones, they hear questions, such as: What might have made the person sad? What scares them? What do they need most right now?

The title comes from a method of body psychotherapy devised by Will Davis. The piece creates an encounter in the here-and-now, shaped by the moment of opening up and the action of turning inward.
