Anna Meredith, “one of the most innovative voices in British music” (Pitchfork), is a composer and producer who defies genre boundaries. Her music shifts between contemporary classical, art pop, electronics and experimental rock. In 2019, The Queen awarded her the MBE (Member of the Order of The British Empire) for services to music. For the last seven years she has collaborated with three of Britain’s best instrumentalists – Maddie Cutter (cello), Jack Ross (guitar) and Sam Wilson (drums). In the U.K., her band has headlined at packed London concert halls and wowed festivals such as Glastonbury, Latitude, Green Man, End of The Road, Transmusicales and SXWS. The New York Times has described her band’s live show as “sheer exhilaration”. In a co-operation between Kunstfest and Schallkultur, in Weimar Anna Meredith and
her band will present her second studio album, “FIBS”, the successor to her debut “Varmints”,
which was named “Scottish Album of The Year Award” in 2016 and established the artist as one of the most promising British discoveries on the borderline between indie/alternative and electronica. “FIBS” is maximalism in Technicolor, a seemingly never-ending reinvention of rhythm that is lush, rich and remarkably accessible.
