Marina Abramović, Sigalit Landau, Katharina Sieverding and Shirin Neshat are four female artists known all over the world. They each use their own bodies as tools in their art, in very different but consistently radical ways – as their very own way of processing biographical wounds, in which they express their experiences of war, oppression and nationalism in their respective homelands in artistic form. This also makes their art directly political. The documentary film accompanies the four artists on an emotional journey through their biographies and offers insights into the production processes of their often monumental artistic work. Sigalit Landau ist the co-creator of this years opening project of KUNSTFEST WEIMAR.
Documentary film by Evelyn Schels, ARTE/SWR, 2019, 92 mins., with Marina Abramović, Sigalit Landau, Katharina Sieverding, Shirin Neshat
