Maria and Christiane, a happy couple from Halle, desire nothing more than a child of their own. The documentary film ‘Love Alone Can’t Make a Child’ follows the lovers over a period of ten years on their emotional journey full of hopes and hurdles, with ever new attempts and disappointments. As a result of their gruelling efforts, the couple’s deep and intense relationship comes increasingly under stress. Doubts grow and time is running out. Filmmaker Judith Beuth feelingly depicts what happens when the entirely natural desire to have a child becomes an all-dominating issue and how that influences and changes a relationship.
After the screening, Gaswerk invites you to a discussion with the director Judith Beuth and the two protagonists Maria and Christiane.
