Three Scottish mercenaries manage to escape from the bloody battles in the court of King Johann III of Sweden. They reach Danish territory, where they commit a fatal robbery at a wealthy rectory. Only the daughter Elsalill survives. Later, she meets one of the thieves again and falls in love with him without realizing that he is one of her family’s murderers.
Swedish cinema led the world in 1920 and this film is still regarded as one of the most magnificent Swedish films of all time.
