International Weimar artists' collective with a reflection on the opportunities and limits of AI
With the project and residency ‘Mehr Mensch als Mensch (More Human Than Human)’, Gonzomechanics has developed an international, cultural exchange in the city of Weimar that promotes diversity and uses the experiences of local stories to alter artificial intelligence (and therefore humanity). Gonzomechanics is an international artist collective made up of Caitlin Pickall, Kathryn Gohmert, Chen Hangfeng, Gökçen Dilek Acay and Laurent Lettrée, founded by Kathryn Gohmert. With a focus on interactive machines and installations, Gonzomechanics builds new forms of behavior and thinking as a result of viewer participation with its inventions. GONZOMECHANICS MEHR MENSCH ALS MENSCH During Kunstfest Weimar 2024, Gonzomechanics presents its exhibition at Stockwerk Weimar and holds a series of events involving the local community. Through workshops and interactive performances, Gonzomechanics collects stories and experiences and uses these as a starting point to subsequently diversify AI. In ‘Mehr Mensch als Mensch’, Gonzomechanics seeks to improve certain human qualities: more empathy for other people and more visibility for the stories of the marginalized. Gonzomechanics aims to destabilize the current trend of war by finding a way to create more understanding and connection between people through our art.
