Lying on the roofs of cars, dancing with animals, organising a ketchup fight, following a random passer-by through the city, controlling adults remotely, inventing your own sport, looking for miracles, taking apart electronic devices, building a »What happens then« machine – PLAYING UP is a playful introduction to performance art, suitable for all ages and for very different contexts.
In London, PLAYING UP was celebrated with a huge public PLAY IN in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern. 1,200 children and adults played along. At KUNSTFEST 2022 we will present the German version of the play in Weimar and also produce a giant, public PLAY IN on the Theaterplatz in co-operation with stellwerk weimar e.V. – youth theatre. The Guardian is convinced: »PLAYING UP offers the tools to take risks, wrest back agency and question power relationships. All while having fun and making art.«
It is possible to begin at any time. The duration is up to you, but the last time you can join in is one hour before the performance ends.
