Sag, wie hast Du's mit dem »Faust«? (Weimarer Kontroversen)

The Klassik Stiftung Weimar makes a guest appearance at Kunstfest with one of its Weimarer Kontroversen – Weimar controversies. Appropriately for this year’s theme Faust, in 2025 the Foundation takes its cue from Goethe’s masterpiece to address the key issues of our time. The range of themes in “Faust” is comprehensive. So, based on the drama, we will ask about seduction and gender relationships, about the craze for youth and the wisdom that comes with age, about evil, about science and ecology, about religion, of course, but also about whether this classic of German literature can still bear reading today. These questions will be discussed by the author Nora Gomringer, who recently delighted in deconstructing the Faustian “text object with an aura” in the magazine “klassisch-modern”, together with the director Till Wiebel, who follows on from his successful production of Part One by now returning to the stellwerk junges theater in Weimar to direct “Faust II”. The conversation will be moderated by Carsten Tesch, journalist and presenter at MDR Kultur.
