»TARZAN OF THE APES«

Lichthaus Kino

Travelling on a mission for the British Empire and exposed to a mutiny in the African jungle, Lord und Lady Greystoke do not survive long. They leave behind a son, who is raised by an ape and at the age of twenty is crowned their king. At the same time, troops are on their way to search for the Greystokes. The hype that surrounded the million-selling novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs by no means overshadowed this film that was shot in California, Louisiana and Manaus in Brazil and established the timeless myth of Tarzan and Jane. The Viennese poet of the screen Ralph Turnheim paints a picture of the events on screen in skilful rhymes. After the film there will be an audience discussion with the film’s narrator and screen poet, with the chance to win a Schoko-Banane.
