On this evening, the two short films »Retouch« by Kaveh Mazaheri and »Invisible« by Sonia Sanjari will be screened.

In »Retouch«, Sonia Sanjari plays a woman who, after years of abuse, refuses the role imposed upon her at a decisive moment. Almost ten years later, Sanjari herself was no longer able to work as an actress in Iran after refusing to wear the compulsory hijab. Following this turning point in her professional life, the docu-fiction film »Invisible« was made, in which Sonia Sanjari tells her own story.

Following the film screening, there will be a discussion with Sonia Sanjari, moderated by the Iranian director Arian Vazirdaftari. Mazaheri, Sanjari and Vazirdaftari belong to the same generation of Iranian filmmakers. They began their artistic careers around the same time and each explore personal experiences and social realities in their work in their own distinct ways.
