Tanja Krone & Team: Songs of (In)Security

Germany, 2026. Many people feel unsafe. But what exactly are we trying to secure here? And how do we find inner security in uncertain times? Theater maker Tanja Krone explores the questions together with her band »The First Security Conference of the Former East« which was formed in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Krone spoke with garage owners, police headquarters, security firms, clergy, and ordinary people about insecurities, security risks, and perceptions of safety. These conversations gave rise to songs, and from the songs emerges a special event—somewhere between a concert and a tragicomedy—that reveals not only the mood of individual cities in the East, but perhaps that of an entire nation. Now the garage band is stopping in Weimar and Jena. Germany, do you feel safe with yourself?
