»Robert Wilson. The beauty of the mysterious«
In this ARTE documentary, Grimme Prize winner Carl
von Karstedt accompanies the legendary theater maker Robert Wilson for over a year to uncover the secret of his work. Robert Wilson is one of the most important theater makers in the world. His trademark: Magical images of great beauty that are almost impossible to interpret, yet accessible. International stars from the worlds of music, art and film work with him again and again.Grimme Award winner Carl von Karstedt accompanied Wilson for over a year to uncover the secret of his work. How does art come into being and what does it mean? How does it trigger feelings in us, and what goes on in the minds of the artists who create it? These are universal questions that are explored with the help of Robert Wilson. For this purpose, Karstedt sets out to experience the art that has captivated him since childhood, talks to its creator, to his famous protagonists, patrons and companions: Wilson's assistant, Hollywood star Willem Dafoe, actor Christian Friedel, his longtime collaborator Ann-Christin Rommen and conceptual artist Marina Abramovic, as well as musicians Tom Waits and Philip Glass. All personalities who are stars in their own right and who have worked with Wilson again and again for decades. His way of painting with light and always fundamentally changing the theater is what makes Robert Wilson and his art so unmistakable. Afterwards, director Carl von Karstedt and Kunstfest director Rolf C. Hemke talk about the film and the work of Robert Wilson.
»PUSH – For the basic right to housing«
Who owns the city? This documentary sheds light on the mechanisms of the global real estate business and searches for the causes and backgrounds of a world- wide rent crisis. Whether New York, Berlin or Seoul: investment companies buy up entire city districts and drive up prices with their speculation. In Toronto alone, real estate prices have risen by 425% in the last 30 years! A film that takes a stand and shows how we can protect our cities from speculation - including statements from experts such as economist Joseph Stiglitz, writer Roberto Saviano and sociologist Saskia Sassen. The focus, however, is on the stories of the people affected by this alarming situation. It accompanies Leilani Farha, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, who makes the voices of those affected heard. An award-winning documentary that has been screened in German cinemas.
»Stars above us«
»Stars above us« is a gripping drama about existential hardships and the struggle against social decline. Suddenly, single mother Melli (Franziska Hartmann) and her son Ben (Claudio Magno) find themselves without a roof over their heads. Their home is a tent in the forest. However, the two still have hope of finding a better place to stay, since Melli already has a new job as a flight attendant. With the employment contract in her pocket, an apartment is quickly found. But it's not quite as easy as that, and the new start turns out to be much more difficult than initially assumed. She juggles back and forth between her place of res- idence, the forest, and her place of work, the airplane, where she is always supposed to be top styled and on time. There is also increasing pressure from the youth welfare office and Melli's employer. While Ben per- ceives everything as a great adventure, Melli is faced with increasingly tough decisions. If she doesn't find a new place to live soon, her son will be taken away from her and she can't and won't accept that...
