Between the televised speech of Chancellor Helmut Kohl on the eve of German reunification and the an- archic punk song »Scheiß DDR« by the band Pisse from Hoyerswerda, the exhibition of the Jena Kunstverein relaxes in search of the "Blooming Landscapes" promised by Kohl. The demolition of a prefabricated concrete slab building, hyperrealistic landscapes of former uranium mining, a "Selfportrait with Climachange", the videoperformative examination of the infrastructural measures of the 1990s "Aufbau Ost" deep on the Rennsteig - corresponding and themat- ically coupled with the exhibition of the ACC Gallery for the Weimar Art Festival - »Endland - Verlassene Orte Thüringens neu denken« the exhibition at the Jena Kunstverein is dedicated to structural developments and challenges in Thuringia, uncovering spatial, temporal, historical, demographic, and sociostructur- al relations in Thuringia. Relationships between city and country, individual and society, industry and na- ture are reflected artistically. Memory and future enter into a dialogue.
