»The desire for a return to normality versus the necessity of permanent change« is the underlying conflict in the growing, mutating, participatory and easily accessible video exhibition »Happy Rotation«. Video installations that can be experienced physically and video sculptures that visitors are able to walk inside require viewers to co-operate and collaborate. Their viewpoints shift, video bodies are generated and worlds are actively turned upside down. The at times humorous and cryptic works of Benedikt Braun and Hyun-Jea Lee offer a contrast with the harsh upheavales of our times. Come along and be part of »Happy Rotation«.
Alongside the video exhibition, the photographer Dominique Wollniok presents images of the district Weimar West. Favourite places – locations that are familiar and unfamiliar – offer some new perspectives. People prefer their own balcony and an extensive view beyond to the sight of courtyards and parked cars they might find in the city centre. She encounters the individuals whose portraits form the core of the photo exhibition »Weimar-West«. Behind every balcony and every window are the faces of people who mainly want one thing: to live well.
The opening of the exhibition »Come Together« will include a performance of live music by DAS WELTWEITE NETZWERK FÜR EIN BEDINGUNGSLOSES GRUNDEINKOMMEN (TOMMY NEUWIRTH) – an ostensibly comic solo entertainer who skillfully creates his own songs out of familiar hits. With each number, amusement turns to sadness and back again. The finale features a performance by HOOP [hu:p], a one man band with an unusual line-up: Nils Alf uses tenor sax, clarinet, bass clarinet and a loop machine to create entire musical worlds with a musical flavour all his own.
