Absurd romantic comedy for a man and a tree
»Eschenliebe« tells the unusual love story of a man for a tree. A story in which the protagonist boldly asserts that with this love the chapter of sexuality must be rewritten. One summer night he talks himself into a frenzy that gradually turns into despair as dry leaves from his beloved »Ash« fall down on him.
The renowned Freiburg playwright Theresia Walser writes a role to fit Luxembourg actor Steve Karier perfectly. A small relationship comedy for one person or an environmental farce in times of climate change? How do we actually perceive our natural environment? What is the relationship between individuals and the nature that surrounds them? In the park or in one’s own garden? And anyway: Why are love stories between humans and trees so rare?
Theresia Walser already brought out her Corona ti- rade »Endlose Aussicht« for Judith Rosmair at the Kunstfest Weimar in 2020, which has since been re- played throughout Europe. Steve Karier celebrated successes with the mobile projects »Schwimmen nach Thüringen« (2020) and »Thüringen - Die ganze Wahrheit« (2021), as well as the Enhanced Reality Par- cours »Animate« (2022) in Weimar, among others.
