Almost everyone in our Western societies has a place to live, somewhere, somehow. But what does »living« mean? Is it a habit, a social convention or a human right? What does it mean to lose a home, perhaps by force? Eunike Kramer’s radio play tells of the everyday absurdities of an eviction process. The events are set in an apartment building in Weimar’s western suburbs. The author offers insights behind the facade of the battle for housing in a small town while critically reflecting both current housing policy and the accompanying gentrification of towns both large and small. Listeners are invited to assume the perspective of affected residents: they learn of ominous events in the night… A production by the Experimental Radio Department at the Bauhaus University Weimar. Eunike Kramer studied Media Arts and Experimental Radio in Weimar. Her works in the field of radio arts are concerned with social change and people’s right to live in the city.
