Klimatext II

KUNSTFEST-Pavilion at the Theaterplatz

Last year the two Berlin theatre stars Stefan Stern and Eva Meckbach mingled with the public in the Theaterplatz to recite the first part of their “climate text”. Now Lydia Ziemke and Nils Lauterbach with their independent company from Berlin suite42 return to Weimar to perform the second part of their interactive promenade audio drama for public spaces. Once again Ziemke has translated and adapted sections from Chris Thorpe’s startling stage text “Always may be the last time”. In Part Two of her project, a a carefully selected group are meeting secretly for the first time in the streets around the Deutsches Nationaltheater. The climate catastrophe has happened, and they say farewell to their previous lives. They reflect on the options they still have for survival, but in particular they look at what we have all done and left behind us in the world. Why that, and why this way? Why was it impossible for us to live a life in harmony with nature and the climate? Who were they and what or who are they going to become now? Can solidarity be the answer? Chris Thorpe is an author and performer from Manchester. As well as numerous co-operations with Unlimited Theatre, the performance group Third Angel and the Portuguese company mala voadora, he has created works for Forest Fringe, the BBC and Belarus Free Theatre.
