The press was unanimous: “They are getting better and better!” – they being Pat and Patachon,
the film’s contrasting characters. They embark on a European tour, with their journey starting in their native Denmark and taking them to the Riviera via Paris and Pisa. They are virtuosos at making faces and their macaroni episode may well have inspired Loriot. The film is based on the book “Hesperus or 45 Dog-Post Days” by Jean Paul, published in 1795.
