If the climate is reaching a tipping point, what will we have to look forward to? | Where will there be space for art and enjoying life? | What can we do now to ensure future generations have a stable, liveable environment?
Together with the citizens of Weimar, we are creating ‘climate art miles’ across various parts of the city. Balconies, windows, entrances to houses, and street corners will all be transformed into stages on which performances will take place. People who live and work in Weimar will come together, think about climate change and sustainability, and embark on an artistic search for solutions and glimmers of hope. Loosely inspired by ‘Altona Opens Up!’ in Hamburg (an initiative by Tania Lauenburg and Carsten Brandau), the event will involve music, singing, dance and art devoted to the theme of sustainability. These individual performances will be made into a trail, so that anyone who is interested can watch (with coronavirus restrictions in place, if applicable).
OPEN CALL
Calling all amateur artists, performers and creators of all kinds — KUNSTFEST WEIMAR is offering a public platform for artistic responses to and reflections on climate change. »Weimar Macht Auf! #2« is a community event focused on building networks of ideas and shared experiences in order to spark creative thinking about our future communal lives in the context of on-going climate collapse.
Our aim is to create a promenade performance featuring members of the local community. Starting at Carl-Alexander-Platz, this nomadic event will traverse the city, pausing for mini-performances at various locations to take in views of Weimar’s historic centre and lush parkland.
Do you have a story to tell, a song to sing or a dance performance that wants to be seen? Would you like the opportunity to share an artistic intervention with fellow citizens? Drop us an email and join in with »Weimar Macht Auf! #2«.
