The performance »Werwolfkommandos« discusses right-wing terror and its legal treatment. The focus lies on two criminal trials and the artistic team’s observation of those trials: the trial surrounding the murder of Walter Lübcke and the right-wing extremist attack on Ahmed I. as well as the trial of German armed forces soldier Franco A.
Theatres and courtrooms – nowhere else does language play such a fundamental role. Nowhere else is there such wrangling to define the present through language, does language itself become the element that defines reality. What linguistic lines of connection can be traced between these trials and the self-representation of all those participating in them? In which trials do those affected have a voice? The performance adresses the question of when people speak and when they are silent, it looks at attempts of claiming terminologies and the struggle for interpretative sovereignty over discourses. What language can be used to counter right-wing positions artistically on stage?
Layers of choral text make way for sound collages of real-life press statements, language gives way to noise, noises to sound, the sound to a rhythm and the rhythm provides the impulse for a new layer of text. Then an interruption and silence. Out of the silence, a new impulse, that takes us one step further in the challenge that the whole of society faces of countering rightwing extremism.
